This was my 2019 Capstone project. I took one of my late grandfather’s watercolor paintings, cleaned it up in photoshop, modeled it in Maya, then printed it out with my 3D printer. It was especially difficult to express the architecture as my grandfather was very loose with the perspective, so the buildings were very abstract in the finished piece. It was very fun, modeling every shingle and turning blotchy paint strokes into fine lines. I had to design the backs of the buildings myself, which was refreshing after so long trying to stick to the original piece. Due to time restrictions and printing size, the building in the left foreground, most of the sidewalk, the tree on the right, and the person with the wheelbarrow had to be cut. Overall, I’m very happy with how this came out, and now it sits on my parents’ mantle next to my grandfather’s painting and the Xbox
