Modeling started in early April, 2020. Images in order of newest to oldest iterations This is my own design for a Star Wars CIS assault carrier. I feel that Prequel ships seldom get much love from the Star Wars modeling community. I wanted to make something in honor of ILM’s wonderful approach to design, but I didn’t want to just reiterate the tons of content that has already gotten fan art. I decided then to make my own design, inspired by the canon CIS designs as well as various trains and cruise ships. The design process has been totally improvised; I think I only ever drew plans of the front plow beforehand, and even that got replaced by an improv design. Aside from the text and the insignia, the entirety of the ship’s textures are generated by a custom node network. Most greebling in the hangar, on the bridges, and across the hull are generated by custom particle emissions using a mesh library. As with my Imperial barge project, most of the work that needs to be done is making a ton of greebles to add more detail, especially in the hangars and around the turrets. This was my first Blender project, and has already been 200+ hours of iterative design and technical leaps. Many thanks to the Fractalsponge Discord group for their volunteered design input and for helping me understand the software
